Gah! Does he like me or not?!?

We are really good friends. We like the same music, movies, tv shows, and we have a lot of other things in common. I ALWAYS catch him staring at me. We talk ALL the time. He's honest with me. He gives hints that he likes me: 1) I said "It's beautiful outside!" He said "Well you're... nvm." 2) He said "You are the epitome of lame. Nothing wrong with that. I like you just fine." He points his shoulders towards me when we talk. He ALWAYS has eye contact. He ALWAYS tries to make me laugh. He pokes me, playfully hits me, and other stuff. If he insults me, he laughs and smiles and I smile back (it was in good fun). I like him a lot. I think he likes me, but what's the deal? Does he or not?! And I'm afraid to tell him how I feel because I don't want to ruin our great friendship. :( I'm really confused. Today he wanted a girl (who I think is prettier than me, & she was his old gf) to switch seats with his friend. She wouldn't. I said I would. He said "No, I like sitting next to you." HELP...
