Is this normal (question about antidepressants)?

I don't like psych meds and that is the reason. I have been on many for depression and they never helped me, but they did cause me to hallucinate, get migraine headaches, become very agitated, get dizzy spells to the point of ping out, or regress to childlish thinking, just like you are describing. Your friend can have them prescribe something different, or have them change her dosage, but based upon my experience with them, she will never find normal, she will only trade one problem in for another and sometimes you trade your depression in for schizophrenia, heart disease, diabetes, liver damage, seizures, or even death. It is my opinion that it is best to accept yourself for who you are and learn to deal with it. A drunk uses alcohol to nullify his problems, which only creates more problems, well drug treatment and depression work the same way. Tell her to get therapy so she can learn to discover and correct the root of the problem. There is always a reason someone becomes depressed, correcting the cause will cure her. I've found that the only people these drugs seem to help are those who don't really need help in the first place because their lives are already balanced, they just hit a bump in the road, and when the bump is cleared they have a miraculous recovery, it is when a person can't resolve their problems that treatment always seems to fail. ;-)
